“You have to LOVE the cam-moo-rah,” Carine Roitfeld says in her delicious French accent to a young adolescent looking boy she decides to take a photograph with. In regards to the previous statement, she’s explaining to the uncomfortable youth that she learned to love the cam-moo-rah (or camera for people here in America) during her time with Tom Ford.
Can we stop and digest that this young kid literally had thee Carine Roitfeld, one of fashion’s most beloved characters, give him advice on life in this industry. Thank Jesus above it was all captured on the cam-moo-rah for Mademoiselle C, a documentary all about Lady Roitfeld. With cameos by just about every personality that I love, I am 99% certain that this is the best fashion documentary since The September Issue. Not many have been made since but you get my drift.
I doubt the film will get a wide release so many of you might have to wait for the DVD release. In the meantime, watch the first 5 minutes of Mademoiselle C and discover just why we all love Carine more than many other things in fashion altogether.
Mademoiselle C opened in select cities this week so I cannot wait to go see it. If you don’t know already, I have a healthy infatuation with Ms. Roitfeld (Exhibits A, B, C, D and E) for numerous reasons. She is a woman who does not compromise, an individual who realizes how she should be moving forward in her career and someone seemingly unafraid to go completely against the grain and say “Oh, fuck it.” if you disagree with her.
BAH. I love Carine Roitfeld.
