All of Primetime’s Bad Ass Females Are on ABC

May 17, 2012
Jennifer Garner might have hung up the ass kicking characters for Romantic Comedies and domestic life but we have not forgotten about her award winning work on ABC’s Alias as Sydney Bristow. That show provided smart television with some crazy plot twists that, for some reason, seemed totally logical at the end of each episode. When those credits would start to roll, the audience walked away saying “Maybe there is a giant, levitating red liquid ball the government is hiding from us.”

When it went off the air in 2006, this fan boy shed a cold tear. It wasn’t until September of 2011 that another female would convincingly execute a character with a fist of steel and heart of gold. Then, just last month, our television’s were rocked yet again with another strong woman with massive proverbial balls. I’m talking about Revenge‘s Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and Scandal‘s Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington).

The fantastic thing about these two serial drama’s is that they approach ass kicking in such a different way. With Revenge, you have a pretty, blonde infiltrating the Hampton’s elite and taking them down one by one to avenge her father. Scandal sees network television’s only Black female lead bringing political justice to those in Washington, DC all while hiding an affair she had…with the President of the United States of America.

Are you serious? These two shows are 100% where it’s at. I want both of these women to share a cover of a magazine together pronto because the camera obviously loves their gorgeous faces and taut frames. I’d probably start with Entertainment Weekly and then straight over to ELLE for a massive fashion story. Chadwick Bell. This is your moment.

Kudos to ABC as well! They have provided pop culture with the ultimate trio of one named primetime dramas focused on sisters doing it for themselves. What is in the water over there?

PS! How awesome would it be for a Sydney Bristow cameo somewhere on one of these shows? Honestly. I’m foaming at the mouth just thinking about it. Even if it never happens, at least both Revenge and Scandal have been picked up for a second season!
