MEN’S FASHION TAKES CENTER STAGE AGAIN
Take a big whiff, reader! What’s that you smell? Balls. Lots of (hopefully) stylish balls at that. Yes, today kicks off the British Fashion Council‘s London Collections Men to show off the Spring/Summer 2016 collections from a selection of Britain’s menswear designers. For four days, models will storm down the runway, pose in presentations and those in attendance will party at a bevy of events taking place around the city.
Whenever any Men’s Fashion Week rolls around, I always find myself in a special headspace. Naturally, I pretend as if I were in a front row seat for the shows I might write a brief review for. To take it one step further, it’s also the one time when I pretend to have the exact same body type as most of the models I see and say colorfully depressing things such as “Oh, I could wear that. No doubt about it!” Once my eyes scan over the final image or the video fades to black, I always say “Yes, I could wear that…if only I lost a third of my current weight for it to hang ‘appropriately’ on my baby frame of a body.”
It gets real intense upstairs in my mind during Men’s Fashion Week.
The struggle is real but I never stop anticipate what menswear designers, especially those ever attractive Brits, come up with. There is a lot of shitty kitsch which is to be expects but when the clothes are good? Oh, they’re amazing. I’m sure my hungry eyes will be adequately served as LCM is bound to deliver with A-list brands and some lesser known shining stars such as Matthew Miller and the comical Bobby Abley.
